Dear Mr Walker
Thank you for your Freedom of Information enquiry dated 10 August 2008 requesting information on total expenditure by the National School of Government on Common Purpose courses for 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 to date.
You also asked to be sent copies of invoices for each Common Purpose course paid for by the National School.
From the year 1997 to date, the National School of Government (and its predecessor organisations) made five payments totalling £4,709.84 to Common Purpose.
These payments are detailed below by calendar year:
YEAR AMOUNT
1999 £106.40
2002 £1,000.00
2003 £250.00
2005 £1,762.50
2005 £1,590.94
I have attached copies of invoices for the payments made to Common Purpose in 2002, 2005 and 2006 as a PDF file.
Consistent with the National Audit Office requirement that main accounting ledgers are retained for six years, the invoice for 1999 has since been destroyed.
I should also note that the invoice for the payment made to Common Purpose in 2003 was destroyed in a fire at an off-site storage facility in 2006.
If you have any questions relating to this email, please don't hesitate to contact me.
