Dear Sir or Madam,
I note that LB Sutton used the RIP Act for 'Directed Surveillance'
in the 'Detection of Crime' 6 times so far this year 2009.
I understand from a previous FOI disclosure that these figures were
broken down in the following way:
1.Benefit Fraud 3
2.Fly Tipping 2
3. Sale of Counterfeit Goods 1
From the above information could you please confirm how many
criminal prosecutions have now commenced utilising the information
or intelligence gathered by the use of the RIP Act Powers.
Please therefore confirm:
1) How many criminal prosecutions have commenced from the 6 uses of
the RIP Act to date in 2009.
2) How many of the cases investigated above have resulted in 'No
further action' by the Council in 2009.
3) How many of any possible prosecutions have resulted in a
conviction or other positive outcome for the Council and it's
residents e.g. Issuing of ASBO's in 2009.
Yours faithfully,
James Martin
