R.J. Taylor made this Freedom of Information request to Electoral Commission
The request was successful.
From: R.J. Taylor
27 April 2009
Dear Sir or Madam,
I would be grateful if you could release to me the collated
responses from local authorities to yourselves on the
self-assessment against the Electoral Registration Officer
performance standards. By this, I mean the raw data that was
collected in order to put together the report at
http://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/__...
As well as the simple data as to what the ERO thinks there
performance is, please also include the contents of the "free text
boxes" mentioned in the report which seem to state what the EROs
actually do.
Yours faithfully,
Mr R.J. Taylor

Dear Bola Ojoye,
Thank you for your reply. I think that, under FOIA, the reply must
come within 20 working days of the original request, and that a
clarification, such as you sought and I gave, does not reset the
clock.
I look forward to receiving the Commission's response by 26 May as
stated in your colleague, Michelanne Wilkinson's original email.
Yours sincerely,

Thank you for your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 dated
27 April 2009. The Commission aims to respond to requests for information
promptly and within the statutory timeframe of twenty working days. Your
request as clarified is in bold below followed by our response.
You originally requested: the collated responses from local authorities to
the Electoral Commission on the self-assessment against the Electoral
Registration Officer performance standards. By this, you referred to the
raw data that was collected in order to put together the report
`Performance standards for Electoral Registration Officers in Great
Britain' (April 2009). You also requested the contents of the `free text
boxes' mentioned in the report.
On 11 May 2009, you clarified that request to be: the spreadsheet with the
collated narrative from the free text boxes and the self assessment rating
each Electoral Registration Officer gave themselves.
The Commission holds this information.
1. The self assessment ratings each ERO gave themselves is available using
an interactive tool on our website at
[1]http://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/pe....
2. Attached is an excel spreadsheet which collates all the narrative
supplied in the free text boxes.

I trust that this information satisfies your request.
If you are not satisfied with this response, please note that the
Commission operates a review procedure, details of which can be found on
the Commission website at:

Please also note that if you have exhausted all internal Commission review
procedures and you are still not satisfied you have the right to appeal to
the Information Commissioner. Details of this procedure can be found on
