From: Blue
25 August 2009
Dear Sir or Madam,
On the 9th September I wrote to Councillor Chalkley advising him
that public notices have been taken down from the bike bays. These
public noticed were on display for a short time up until the
beginning of August. They nearly all disappeared at exactly the
same time the Councils contractors fixed the new signs explaining
how PTW's should pay the new parking tax. The public notices were
explaining to the public that the bike charging scheme was
experimental and anybody who wanted to object could write to the
Council's Agents, West One, 59 Buckingham Gate, London, SW1F 6AJ,
quoting reference 6303/ALJ.
By December 2008 I had received a reply from Councillor Chalkley in
which he suspected that vandals had probably managed to removed
nearly all of the public notices from 600 bike bays in less than
two weeks.
Naturally I would have expected Council Chalkley to take such a
mass act of vandalism up with the Police. At the time I offered
Councillor Chalkley a description of these vandals seen taking down
the public notices. These vandals were extremely ell organised and
had managed to find very convincing Council contractors uniforms
and accompanying vehicles.
I did not hear further from Councillor Chalkley on this matter. But
since he has claimed in the press to have made complaints to the
police for far lesser issues, could you please answer the following
questions.
1)Please can you provide the date when Councillor Chalkley report
the vandalism of these public notices to the police along with the
relevant crime reference number.
2)Is there an investigation still ongoing into the missing public
notices?
3)If the matter has been concluded with the police, please send me
copies of any letters the police have sent to Councillor Chalkley
as a result of concluding their investigation.
Yours faithfully,
Blue
