Dear British Broadcasting Corporation,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of
Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of British Broadcasting
Corporation's handling of my FOI request 'Climate change and the
Board'.
The answer that the Trust has no documents on the matter is a
complete lie. It is an unacceptable response, and proveably false.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbctrust/news/press...
is a press release dated before the reply and contains the
following.
The BBC Trust has today announced that it will carry out a
review to assess the accuracy and impartiality of the BBC's
coverage of science.
It will be the latest in a series of reviews that assess
impartiality in specific areas of BBC output.
It is a key priority for the Trust that the BBC covers potentially
controversial subjects with due impartiality, as required by the
Royal Charter and Agreement.
Richard Tait, BBC Trustee and Chair of the Trust's Editorial
Standards Committee (ESC), said:
"Science is an area of great importance to licence fee payers,
which provokes strong reaction and covers some of the most
sensitive editorial issues the BBC faces.
"Heated debate in recent years around topics like climate change,
GM crops and the MMR vaccine reflects this, and BBC reporting has
to steer a course through these controversial issues while
remaining impartial.
"The BBC has a well-earned reputation for the quality of its
science reporting, but it is also important that we look at it
afresh to ensure that it is adhering to the very high standards
that licence fee payers expect."
The review will assess news and factual output that refers to
scientific findings, particularly science output relating to
current public policy and matters of political controversy.
It is dated the 6th and its likely that discussions started before
this date. There clearly would have been an agenda for this
discussion circulated in advance of any meeting.
So the reply on the 8th that there was no such papers is proved
false. It's in line with the BBC editorial policy to be biased in
favour of the climate alarmists and the general strategy not to
release details that enable people to investigate the reasons and
evidence behind the editorial breaches of the BBC code. [For
example naming the secret scientists that the editors rely on for
their bias]
Since its clearly there is evidence that the data exists, and the
BBC has denied exists, I'm asking for a review.
