Clarification of information
Paula Keaveney made this Freedom of Information request to Merseyside Waste Disposal Authority
The request was successful.
From: Paula Keaveney
2 March 2009
Dear Sir or Madam,
I recently received a leaflet from a third party making a number of
statements about MWDA or about activities for which MWDA is
responsible. This leaflet was received on 1 March 2009. I would
like information to clarify these statements please.
The leaflet states that
"MWDA has already identified two sites in Liverpool and Knowsley
for potential new incinerators". Can you please tell me
a. if this is true
b. if it is true, where MWDA is in the process of pursuing this
c. if any Council has in fact already refused to allow the siting
of an incinerator
The leaflet states that
" There are proposals for a large incinerator to burn rubbish at
the junction of the M62 and M57"
Can you tell me please
if this is an MWDA proposal and if so where MWDA is in the process
of pursuing this
The leaflet states that
"domestic rubbish lorries .. are often driven along Speke Boulevard
to go to landfill in Cheshire"
Can you tell me please
a. the exact routes taken by MWDA lorries from the waste transfer
stations in Liverpool to any landfill sites
b. the exact routes taken by lorries taking recyclates to the MRF
in Bidson and
c. if in fact any lorries operated by or contracted for local
councils on Merseyside go directly to the landfill sites used.
The leaflet is produced on behalf of Jack Allen Holdings but this
should not restrict your answer as these statements having been
made in public there is no reason for commercial confidentiality to
be argued in this case.
Yours faithfully,
Paula Keaveney
