A Freedom of Information request to Local Government Ombudsmen by Stuart Hardwicke CARRUTHERS

Dear Sir or Madam,

Please identify since 1974

(1) the basic pay of a local commissioner for each year;

(2) the additional payment made to the Chair of the Commission for
Local Administration for each year following their designation by
the Secretary of State, as a result of this designation;

(3) the additional payment made to the Vice Chair of the Commission
for Local Administration for each year following their designation
by the Secretary of State, as a result of this designation

Please further provide all documents from the Secretary of State
identifying the additional payment that should be made to the Chair
and Vice Chair of the CLAE.

Finally please provide details of any additional benefits for each
year paid to a Local Commissioner (eg enhanced pension
arrangements).. and the authority for providing these benefits.

Trevor R Nunn left an annotation (14 December 2009)

As a reason for failing to respond to this FOI request in a timely fashion their FOI officer states "This is due to pressure of work - particularly the number of Freedom of Information requests received in recent weeks". WDTK FOI requests have not significantly increased in recent weeks, (I acknowledge that some FOI requests could have be sent direct but this has always been the case.) Their FOI workload is increasing for one reason and one reason only, their failure to provide the information requested when first requested, leaving people no alternative but seek internal reviews and submit ICO complaints.

I am writing to request an internal review of Local Government
Ombudsmen's handling of my FOI request 'CLAE payments'.

The request is well overdue and the CLAE identified that they would
respond.

Please review both the publication scheme and handling aspects of
the complaint.
