Christmas Ice Rink Environmental Impact Study
Colwyn Resident made this Freedom of Information request to Conwy County Borough Council
Waiting for an internal review by Conwy County Borough Council of their handling of this request.
From: Colwyn Resident
7 December 2008
Dear Sir or Madam,
Please provide a copy of the Environmental Impact Study for the ice
rink situated in Colwyn Bay over the Christmas 2008 period.
I understand the ice rink is powered by large diesel
generating/refrigeration plant which will be running 24 hours a day
throughout the period of operation.
I would like to know how much CO2 and other greenhouse gases will
be produced. Also how much soot will be created from the diesel
burnt and finally the quantities of carcinogens and other
contaminants that will be created.
I would also like to know what measures CCBC have in place to
offset the "carbon footprint" created by the ice rink.
Yours faithfully,
Colwyn Resident

Dear Sir or Madam,
Can we assume you will be waiting until AFTER the ice-rink has
finished before releasing this information?
The information should be readily at hand, given the study ought to
have been done in the past few weeks.
Perhaps it is highly embarrassing to the Council, hence the
reluctance to release it whilst the ice-rink is still erected?
Yours sincerely,
Colwyn Resident

Dear Info Regs Unit,
HA HA HA
Same old excuse huh? So are you saying you did not receive either
of the emails of 7th December and 19th December?
How convenient for you.
I require a statement to that effect if it is the case.
