What was the total expenditure of the Council on leisure and
recreation in 2007/08?

What was the total expenditure on children’s play services and
facilities in the same year for those aged under 16 years?

What amount of this came from either Big Lottery and/or
Assembly/Central Government funding?

What was the estimated population of the authority area in the same
year?

What was the total estimated population aged under 16 years in the
same year?

If available, what proportion of use of leisure centres and
recreation facilities was by children aged under 16 years in the
same period?

If appropriate, what was the % use of Libraries run by the
authority by children aged under 16 in the same period?

If appropriate, in the years from its introduction what has been
the expenditure by the authority under Section 508 of the Education
Act 1996, and what proportion went to voluntary agencies?

received on 20^th April 2009 regarding Children's Play Provision

leisure and recreation, play services facilities and libraries is
detailed below:

Children's Play facilities for 2007/08 - £330,000 (£300k capital and
£30k s106 contributions).

What was the estimated population of the authority area in the same
year?

What was the total estimated population aged under 16 years in the same
year?

59,277 (0 to 15 years)

If available, what proportion of use of leisure centres and recreation
facilities was by children aged under 16 years in the same period?

The Council holds no recorded information which can answer this
question.

If appropriate, what was the % use of Libraries run by the authority by
children aged under 16 in the same period?

The Council holds no recorded information which can answer this
question.

If appropriate, in the years from its introduction what has been the
expenditure by the authority under Section 508 of the Education Act
1996, and what proportion went to voluntary agencies?

The Summer Learning Festival was funded by the New Opportunities Fund
(NOF) from 1999 to 2006, this funding came in three year trenches. Since
2006 the festival has been funded by the authority with the below
budgets

2006 - £46000

2007 - £46000

2008 - £50000

2009 - £60000

None of this money has gone to voluntary organisations, this year is the
first year we will use Red Cross and that course is costing us £150.
The remainder of the courses are run by statutory organisations or
commercial organisations.
