Dear Sir or Madam,
Please supply a list of all North Yorkshire Childrens Contact
Centres.
Are these run privately or council controlled ?
Are these run for profit, if council controlled supply the
accounts?
What are the policies in place and who created these?
Is it correct that adults are expected to sign in , in pencil that
could easily be rubbed out?
How many children on a yearly basis do this centres cater for in
each area?
Many thanks for your help in this matter.
With regards
Mr Russell

Dear Mr Russell
With reference to your request for information on 'Childrens Contact Centres' - having made enquiries, North Yorkshire County Council do not have any establishments known as this. Please could you specify exactly what you mean by a contact centre, as it may be that we do run such centres, under a different name. Until we hear from you, we will be unable to progress your request.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Kind regards

Dear Mr Russell
Thank you for your email regarding Westbourne House, Selby. Westbourne House is a Children's Social Care office, containing staff from the following teams - Looked After Children, Adoption, Fostering and Leaving Care.
There are two rooms in the building which can be used by social workers if they require somewhere for a supervised visit between parents and children to take place, but it is not a specified contact centre as such.
Within North Yorkshire County Council, there are two specific types of centres for children. Although they are located structurally within different service areas of Children and Young People's Service, there is some overlap of service provision, and both types of centre can provide for contact meetings between parents and children to take place, as part of the service being offered to a particular family.
Family Centres: these are run by Children's Social Care and provide some direct work with children and families, supervised contact between parent(s) and child(ren), and other types of meetings between professionals and service users, such as conferences of different kinds.
Children's Centres: these are run by Strategic Services, and provide a resource for the local community in terms of extended provision (similar to extended schools provision), portage, parent school advisor and health visitor services. These centres also provide the services as outlined above for Family Centres.
It may also be worth noting that the mediation service for divorcing couples provide so called contact centres, in the form of a building, for contact between parent(s) and child(ren). This is a completely separate service from the ones detailed above, and NYCC do not run this service.
Please could you let us know whether you are interested in Children's Centres or Family Centres, and we will do our best to help you?
