Dear Ms Daley

I am writing in respect of your recent enquiry for information held by the
Authority under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
Please find herewith the following:

1. How many electively home educated (EHE) children are known to the local
authority? 376

2a. How many of these electively home educated children are known to social
services? At the current time Social Care are not able to analyse their
case records by reason of EHE.

2b. Of those EHE children known to social services how many are considered
at risk of harm? At the current time Social Care are not able to analyse
their case records by reason of EHE.

2c. How many EHE children are known to social services because they have
SEN and are in need of extra help? At the current time Social Care are not
able to analyse their case records by reason of EHE.

3. What are the corresponding figures for all children in the Birmingham
area, split into school age and below school age if possible. It is not
clear what is being requesting in this question.

4. What percentage of referrals to Birmingham social services are
considered to be vexatious, without merit or false or generally need no
further inquiry. At the current time Social Care are not able to analyse
their case records by reason of referrals defined as above.

Whilst we have undertaken a thorough search of the information held by
Birmingham City Council, it may be that, due to the size and amount of
information held by Birmingham City Council, some information may have been
inadvertently missed.

If you have any information which may assist us in determining or locating
any missed information, we would be grateful if you would contact us with
details of this information, so that we can conduct a further search.

If you are not satisfied with the response you may ask for an internal
review. If subsequently you are not satisfied with the Council’s decision
you may apply to the Information Commissioner for a decision. Generally,
the ICO cannot make a decision unless you have exhausted the complaints
