FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST

RE: Febrile Neutropenia

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request which we received on 26
January 2009.

Due to the small number of patients the risk of breaching patient
confidentiality means that we cannot release the numbers. Under section
38(1)(i) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, the
information is not provided.

I trust you will find this information useful.

However, if you are dissatisfied with the way NHS Fife has dealt with this
request, you have 40 days in which to register a "requirement for review".

The complaint should be addressed to the NHS Fife Chief Executive in the
first instance, who will refer the matter to the Director of Corporate
Services. The complaint will be acknowledged immediately and a more
comprehensive reply will be sent within 20 days.

The NHS Fife Chief Executive will receive a report from the Director of
Corporate Services within the designated timescale and will decide whether
the requested information should now be disclosed or not.

If applicants are dissatisfied with the outcome of the Review Procedure,
they may seek an independent review from the Scottish Information
Commissioner.

Requests for review by the Scottish Information Commissioner should be
made in writing to:

The number of patients who received chemotherapy during 2008 was 334.

I trust you will find this information useful.
