Dear Mr Clark,
With reference to your request for information about the number of
patients who have received chemotherapy at Southport & Ormskirk Hospital
NHS Trust in 2008 the answer 67. Most of these were haematology patients
although a small number were urology patients.
Although chemotherapy for other types of cancer is administered to other
patients at our hospital, this is done in partnership with Clatterbridge
Centre for Oncology NHS Foundation Trust whose staff come to our hospital
one or two days a week to give the treatment to patients who live
locally. Because of this, the patients come under the Clatterbridge
Consultants and I have therefore referred your request to them to provide
you with the numbers you asked for.
I hope this is satisfactory.
Yours sincerely,
Matthew King

chemotherapy from CCO. This includes patients completing a course that
started in 2007 (or earlier) as well as those starting a course that will
finish in 2009 (or later). In total they attended for 29,240 appointments.
