Changes to Road Junction at Moor Lane, Woking, GU22 9QY

Dear Sir or Madam,

This inquiry concerns changes to the road junction between Moor
Lane and New Lane, Woking, in the general proximity of GU22 9QY. I
believe I am correct in stating that Surrey County Council is the
statutory road authority in this respect.

I noted with interest the recent correspondence from Woking Borough
Council outlining the proposed housing development in the farm land
to the North of Moor Lane.

I noted that according to the timetable the matter of site access
would be determined in March 2009 in parallel to the public
consultation scheduled at the same time. We are led to believe that
Moor Lane might be selected as the preferred access route but that
planning consent has not been approved.

It is therefore of interest to note that road works were completed
on the 19th Feb 2008 at the junction of Moor Lane and New Lane to
remove the earth embankment / island that separated Moor Lane from
New Lane and that lane road markings had been instated.

This has had the effect of widening the road entrance at the
expense of the country character of the lane and has reduced the
speed control deterrent that the island provided (i.e. slow speeds
were previously required to enter and exit the lane).

I would therefore like to request under the freedom of information
act, the details of how this road change was instructed by,
authorised by and approved by.

In particular I would be interested to be provided with copies of
the planning approval documents that were raised in this respect.
