Change of CCTV camera on The Hyde Bus Lane

Richard Bradley made this Freedom of Information request to Barnet Borough Council

The request was partially successful.

From: Richard Bradley

29 December 2009

Dear Barnet Borough Council,

I have recently noticed that it appears the CCTV camera that is
used to keep the Bus Lane on The Hyde (South of Sainsburys) clear
has been changed for a newer model. I would like to know why this
camera has been changed, and when it was decided by the council
that this camera should be changed. I would also like to know
precisely when this camera was changed.

I would also like to know the quality of the chip in both the new
camera compared to the old camera, and whether either camera is
fitted to an ANPR system.

Yours faithfully,

Richard Bradley

Dear Mr Bradley,

I am writing in respect of your enquiry for information held by the
Authority under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act.

Please find the information you requested below. If you have any queries
concerning the information please contact me at the supplied address.

The camera at A5 The Hyde/West Hendon Broadway j/w Garrick Road NW9 has
been exchanged for a newer type of camera. This is to improve the
evidential quality for bus lane enforcement. The camera is currently
undergoing testing before being implemented fully.

Enforcement at this location was suspended over the Christmas period, on
the afternoon of 21/12/09, and the camera was swapped over on the
30/12/09.

I am afraid we cannot advise on the "chip" you are referring to, although
I can confirm that the London Borough of Barnet have used 9 JVC's
TK-C1480BE cameras to enforce bus lane contraventions since 2004, we are
now trialling a Forward Vision MICI - 400 at this location.

I can also confirm that the main the London Borough of Barnet CCTV system
(used for community safety and traffic enforcement) is not installed with
ANPR.

If for whatever reason you are unhappy with our response you are entitled
to pursue any dissatisfaction through the Council's Complaints Procedure.
The Complaints Officer for Environment and Operations can be contacted in
writing also at the supplied address. Should you remain dissatisfied you
can appeal against the decision by contacting the Information
Commissioner, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow SK9 5AF.

Regards
