23 May 2011

Dear Kit Good,

Thank you for your reply on May 20th to my FOI request submitted on
April 18th.

I have rated this on What Do They Know as “I've received some of
the information”.

I seek the missing information as a matter of urgency because the
20 day window for the University of London’s reply has expired.

I refer to items 1 and 2 of my request.

1) What holding and operating accounts have existed between
November 2009 and 31 March 2011 that have held or disbursed money
related to the Centre for New Zealand Studies (or what remains of
it) in the same period?

2) Details of income, expenditure and balances that relate to
Centre for New Zealand Studies (or what remains of it) in these
accounts for the same period.

Your reply stated that the University of London expenditure
relating to the Centre for New Zealand Studies in this period was
£53,403 to Birkbeck College for the Centre and £23,818 to Birkbeck
College for a Research Assistant. However you have not specified
from which University of London budgets or accounts these payments
were made

With regard to your answer to my question 3, it is not clear
whether there is any working space at what remains of the Centre
for New Zealand Studies. Are the two spaces for which you have
provided dimensions for storage only?

Yours sincerely,

Paul Burns

Dear Mr Burns

I apologise that you are unhappy with the response you received.

To address the points raised in your email:

There is no holding or operating account at the University of London in regards to the Centre for New Zealand Studies.

The two payments listed were provided from the Vice Chancellor’s Development Fund.

The rooms at the University of London referred to in my response are used for storage only. If a researcher wished to consult any Centre for New Zealand Studies source material held by the University (and not currently available at the British Library, Senate House Library or elsewhere in the Bloomsbury precinct) they are advised to contact the University to arrange access. Study space can be made available in Senate House. Further information can be found at the following link: http://www.bbk.ac.uk/cnzs/.

I hope that this has clarified the points you felt were missing in the original response. Please let me know if you require any further information.

Yours sincerely
