I would like to request the following information:

1) the number of CCTV cameras operated by the City Council, if
any

Ans: 178 Public Space Cameras (35 of which belong to another authority
and will be removed later this year)

2) a breakdown of the costs to the Council during the last
financial year of operating its CCTV cameras, if any

Ans: £790K

4) the number of instances over the five years in which
information
gained from CCTV cameras has been passed on to private security
guards working in the city

Ans: The only information passed to Door staff and Store Security Staff
has been direction of travel of suspects in response to calls received
from them. A record of how
often this has happened has not been retained.

5) what regulations, guidelines and oversight exist in relation
to
the compromise of information acquired via CCTV

Ans: We are subject to the DPA, HRA, FOIA, RIPA, a Council Policy on
CCTV and CCTV Codes of Practice. We are registered under the DPA and are
visited by the
Surveillance Commissioners Staff. In addition regular internal
audits are carried out.

6) a copy of the most recent cost-effectiveness assessment
of the Council's CCTV operations, if any

Ans: Not available

7) the costs, if any, over the last five financial years, of
vetting existing or potential operators of CCTV cameras

Ans: Enhanced Police Checks and Counter Terrorist checks are carried
out by the police at no charge. All CCTV staff hold an SIA licence the
cost of which includes a fee
for vetting via the CRB system of £35 each. Therefore we have
spent £700 on vetting over the last 5 years.
