Dear Westminster City Council,
The contractors you employ for traffic enforcement duties (NSL?)
have employees who operate CCTV equipment during the course of
their duties. Specifically they operate at least two CCTV smart
cars.
Please provide the following information re the smart car
operatives:
1. Do the operatives need a Public Space Surveillance license as
issued by the Security Industry Authority (SIA)?
2. If the answer to 1 is yes, please provide details of any WCC
action that has been taken to ensure that its contractors are
complying with their licensing obligations.
3. Is there a legal obligation on WCC to ensure that the smart car
operatives have the proper SIA licenses to act on their behalf?
Yours faithfully,
Steve Baker
