Further to your email below, I can confirm that Redcar and Cleveland
Borough Council does meet the requirements of the code set out in the CCTV
Code of Practice which has been produced by the Information Commissioner.

As you are no doubt aware, this code provides good practice advice for
those involved in operating CCTV and other devices which view or record
images of individuals. It also covers other information derived from those
images that relates to individuals (for example vehicle registration
marks). The code sets out the Information Commissioner***s recommendations
on how the legal requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998 can be met.
Organisations may use alternative methods to meet these requirements, but
if they do nothing then they risk breaking the law.

Redcar and Cleveland BC have a Code of Practice in place which ensures
compliance with the principles of the Data Protection Act 1998.

I hope this has clarified matters for you.
Kind regards
Sue Bridges
Constitution Manager
