Good Morning Vanessa
I have contacted the CCTV room again for you and have been given the following information:-
London Borough Barking and Dagenham only have one camera on River Road, covering the junction of Alfred's Way, and this is the one that was reviewed, however, it was pointing in the opposite direction at the time given. We do not have any other cameras in this area.
It may be that other cameras are in this area which are owned and operated by other agencies, such as Transport for London.
I hope this information is satisfactory.

Dear Barking and Dagenham Borough Council,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of
Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of Barking and Dagenham
Borough Council's handling of my FOI request 'CCTV Footage- 26th
June 2011'.
The council has reported back that it only has one camera on the
stretch of Alfred Way (A13)- River Road Junction to the A406 North
Circular intersection.
The latest response I received from the council was' London Borough
Barking and Dagenham only have one camera on River Road, covering
the junction of Alfred's Way, and this is the one that was
reviewed, however, it was pointing in the opposite direction at the
time given. We do not have any other cameras in this area.'
I am not sure of the validity of this statement knowing the fact
that the council has always communicated its increasing usage of
CCTVs in the borough, especially on roads, for the reduction of
crime in the Borough.
The last time I checked, I counted more than 6 cameras on each
direction. Understandably, some of these cameras may be operated by
TFL. However, TFL has confirmed under a separate communication that
none of these cameras belongs to them. In particular, the second
camera which clip I requested for has been confirmed not to be
theirs.
I would be grateful if you can review this case for me.
A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is
available on the Internet at this address:

Dear Mrs Lawrence,
Thank you for your email dated 19 August.
I can confirm that Barking and Dagenham Council owns and operates only one
camera on River Road, near to the junction with Alfreds Way, I am also
aware that Transport for London also owns a camera close to this junction.
Unfortunately we are not aware of any other cameras in this vicinity,
however, if other cameras are present they may be privately owned and
operated and to obtain footage from these cameras you would need to
approach the owner direct.
I trust that I have dealt with your complaint satisfactorily. If however
you are not satisfied with my explanation, you will, of course, be able to
appeal to the Chief Executive under the Council’s Corporate Complaint
Procedure. Any appeal should be made in writing, giving your reasons and
addressed to: Stage 3 Appeals, Room 104, Town Hall, 1 Town Square,

Dear Karen,
Thank you for carrying out the requested internal review.
Your response appeared not to have addressed the point raise as it
only confirmed the number of cameras the council has on RIVER ROAD.
Just to clarify, I was hoping you would be able to confirm to me,
the number of cameras owned and operated by the council between the
River road junction of the A13 ALFRED ROAD travelling westwards
towards the A406 North Circular Road Junction. In essence, I am
requesting for a confirmation of the number of the council's
cameras on that stretch of A13 Alfred Road, NOT the number of
cameras on River Road.
Yours sincerely,
Vanessa Lawrence
