Borough.
2) The retention period for data recorded by each camera.
3) For each year since its installation, the number of Subject
Access requests under the Data Protection Act 1998 received for
data from each camera.
4) For each year since its installation, the number of times data
from each camera has been passed to the Police.
5) For each year since its installation, the number of times data

1) The installation date of each CCTV camera controlled by the
Borough.
I am unable to provide this data as the date of installation of every
camera is no longer available due to the length of time cameras have
been used in the Borough exceeding the length of time we retain
information for.
2) The retention period for data recorded by each camera.
This varies according to the recorder the camera is connected to as well
as the maintenance status of each camera and recorder; no information is
kept showing the overall picture. The time involved in collating an
overview showing each camera's recording period exceeds the statutory
limit set in the FOIA and thus I am not required to provide this
information.
3) For each year since its installation, the number of Subject
Access requests under the Data Protection Act 1998 received for
data from each camera.
The CCTV Service does not keep information collating the number of
requests.
4) For each year since its installation, the number of times data
from each camera has been passed to the Police.
This information is not available due to the length of time cameras have
been used in the Borough exceeding the length of time we retain
information for. Were the requestor to make a further enquiry for the
period covering January 2003 to June 2008 I would be able to respond.
5) For each year since its installation, the number of times data
from each camera has been used as evidence in Court proceedings.
This information is not kept by the Borough, an approach needs to be
made to the Police or more likely the Crown Prosecution Service.

Dear Mr. Wells,
Thank you for your response. In order to limit the request to
information which has been collected and retained by the borough,
please provide the following:
1) The total number of CCTV cameras controlled by the borough and,
where information is available, the date of installation for each
camera.
2) The longest retention period in use on a recorder in the
borough.
3) For each month from 2003 to the present, the number of times
data from each camera has been passed to the Police. If a monthly
breakdown is not available then please provide a yearly summary
instead.
Yours sincerely, Ian Phillips.

Is there any chance you could contact me to discuss what it is you need? If I can get an idea of what it is you're looking for then I might be able to give you a meaningful response, otherwise our answers will be fairly non sensical, as the first ones were.
Regards,
Andy [mobile number]
