Thank you for contacting Buckinghamshire County Council.
Your request for information has now been considered and the information you have requested is as follows:
In our code of practices (available at the link below) we have stated that we would like to keep a lot of information on camera locations and the overall system on our website, therefore shortly we will update our UTMC (Urban Traffic Management and Control) webpages to include this.
However, in answer to the questions:
As of April 2011 the ANPR system comprised 11 cameras across Aylesbury and the surrounding area which will inform the Council's traffic management system of journey times (mainly into Aylesbury). The cameras were located at:

A418 Oxford Road, Stone
A4010 Station Road, Stoke Mandeville
A413 Wendover Road, Stoke Mandeville
A413 Walton Street

As of April 2011 the CCTV system comprises of 19 pan, tilt, zoom cameras across the major junctions in Aylesbury. Camera locations are at the following sites:

and 2 fixed cameras to monitor the rising bollards at Fowler Road and Lark Vale, Aylesbury Fairford Leys Way / Fowler Road Lark Vale / Cleveland Park.
The list above does not include other BCC CCTV cameras in non 'public space' positions e.g. cameras used for security around the County Hall complex and within buildings. BCC has 75 such cameras (the majority, 48, being internal).
The code of practices detail how long we retain data, this being:
CCTV: Images will not be retained for longer than 14 days, unless they are required by the Council, Police or other regulatory body due to an incident having occurred.
ANPR: BCC will not receive any vehicle image data from the ANPR cameras. BCC will only receive the depersonalised Vehicle Registration Number (VRN) of each vehicle that passes through a camera. This data will be automatically processed by software to provide average journey time information to the control room operatives. This processed (non personal) journey time information can be kept indefinitely for network management purposes.
