relating to Catering in Authority Establishments

I would advise you that the Act defines a number of exemptions that may
prevent release of the information you have requested. There will be an

Thank you for your email dated 24 October 2011 requesting information
relating to Catering in Authority Establishments.  Responding to each
question in turn I can provide the following information:

    

1.How many catering establishment including schools primary and secondary
are there within the Authority where a contractor provides the catering?

There are 2 establishments where a contractor provides catering.

    

2.How many catering establishments including schools primary and secondary
are there within the Authority where the Authority itself provides the
catering?

There are 75 catering establishments

    

3.Is the catering for schools within the Authority prepared on site at
each individual location or is it prepared centrally and transported to
the schools? 

All school meals are prepared on site with the exception of 2 primary
schools which receive transported meals in from a central site.

    

4.Does the Authority monitor the catering provision within its schools and
other establishments to ensure that the catering provider, weather it be
in house or contractor are complying with legislation and requirements
regarding nutritional standards?

Yes, other than the 2 managed by private contractor

    

5.If so is the monitoring carried out by a dedicated Authority support
team or does the Authority use an independent consultant?

Monitoring is carried out by an “In house” team.
