Catering in Authority Establishments

Dear Newcastle upon Tyne City Council,

I would be very grateful if you could answer the following.

1.How many catering establishment including schools primary and
secondary are there within the Authority where a contractor
provides the catering?

2.How many catering establishments including schools primary and
secondary are there within the Authority where the Authority itself
provides the catering?

3.Is the catering for schools within the Authority prepared on site
at each individual location or is it prepared centrally and
transported to the schools?

4.Does the Authority monitor the catering provision within its
schools and other establishments to ensure that the catering
provider, weather it be in house or contractor are complying with
legislation and requirements regarding nutritional standards?

5.If so is the monitoring carried out by a dedicated Authority
support team or does the Authority use an independent consultant?
