Dear City of London Police,
For each of the three years to July 2008, July 2009 and July 2010,
please provide details of the amount of time spent by the City of
London police on campaigns actively targeting:
a. Cycling offences committed by those on pedal cycles;
b. Those in/on motorised vehicles illegally stopping in advanced
stop line boxes reserved for cyclists;
c. Driving offences committed by those in/on motorised vehicles
(which may include motoring driving offences associated with
advanced stop lines).
The information may be provided in the format most easily
accessible by you and may be broken down into categories of
employee and by hours, days or another measurement of time.

Dear Mr Knox,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of
Information reviews for the City of London Police.
I am writing to request an internal review of City of London
Police's handling of my FOI request 'Campaigns targeting
cycling/motoring offences'. This is because you have failed to
comply with the statutory deadline to comply with my request; and
you have failed to comply with good practice in your handling of
this request, in that you have failed to provide full details why
you have not complied with the statutory deadline.
As you will be aware, a full history of my FOI request and all
correspondence is available on the Internet at this address:
http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/ca...
I look forward to receiving the results of your review - and a full
copy of all information requested - within the next twenty working
days.
Yours sincerely
James Mack

Questions 1 to 3
The information that you have requested is not held by the City of London
Police and we have been unable to identify any data that would enable us
to calculate the amount of time spent targeting the activities listed.
You may be aware of Operation Atrium which targets cycle safety and has
included an enforcement element, but now focuses on education. We hold
some statistical data relating this operation but it does not include the
time spent targeting the activities listed.
The following statistics relate to the number of Fixed Penalty Notices
issued for certain offences in July for each of the three years specified,
but we are unable to state if the Notices were issued as part of a
campaign.
July 2008 = 200 Cycling offences committed
July 2009 = 313 Cycling offences committed
July 2010 = 411 Cycling offences committed
July 2008 = 6 Motorised vehicles illegally stopping in stop line boxes
July 2009 = 4 Motorised vehicles illegally stopping in stop line boxes
July 2010 = 5 Motorised vehicles illegally stopping in stop line boxes
July 2008 = 343 Driving offences committed by motorised vehicles
July 2009 = 269 Driving offences committed by motorised vehicles
July 2010 = 265 Driving offences committed by motorised vehicles
Please accept my apologies for the delay in replying to your request,
which resulted from the difficulty in identifying any relevant statistical
data. Please note that your request for an Internal Review is being dealt
with by the Head of Information Management Services and he will be writing
to you shortly.
Should you have any further questions regarding your request, please
contact me via e-mail, letter or telephone, quoting the reference number
above.
Yours sincerely
