By-laws

Antony Ward made this Freedom of Information request to Merseyside Police Authority

The request was successful.

From: Antony Ward

3 September 2008

Dear Sir,
I was recently stopped from leafleting for the BNP on Bold Street
by the armed response unit, CCTV van and PCSO's, an over reaction
if ever I saw one!

Political organisations do not require local authority consent to
sell or distribute literature on the streets.

As the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and
Fundamental Freedoms, Article 10 states;

1/ Everyone has the right to freedom of expression. This right
shall include freedom to hold opinions and receive and impart
information and ideas without interference by public authority
regardless of frontiers.

Could you please tell me what by-law I was prevented from
leafleting under.

Thank you,
Antony Ward, [email address]

This thread is showing an over due response by some 350 days. However, the last entry appears to be a transfer to a different public authority, namely Merseyside Police.
It doesn't seem right to show the application as not having had a response if it has been transferred.

The Police authority admitted they had no right to stop me from leafleting!
