Burton Stone Lane, Speed Limit

John Thomas made this Freedom of Information request to City of York Council

The request was partially successful.

From: John Thomas

11 November 2008

Dear Sir or Madam,

Speed has been an issue for residents, pedestrians and other road
users of Burton Stone Lane for a considerable time now, the area
between 'The Burton Stone' and the junction perhaps 500m along with
'Grovesnor Road' is clearly depicted as having a 20MPH speed limit,
yet motorists zoom through carelessly at high speeds.

Please could you investigate how many motorists have been stopped
and cautioned, fined or taken to court by the Police on this
stretch of road in the last 12 to 36 months?

Residents of this area were also informed a "speed survey" was
undertaken to ascertain how many vehicles travel along this stretch
of road, and at what speed; could you please also release all
documentation pertaining to this research, including any [internal]
documentation discussing [or deciding] how this serious matter may
be addressed.

Yours faithfully,

John Thomas
