Dear Helsby High School, Cheshire,
I am writing to make a request in accordance with the Freedom of
Information Act, to request the following information in electronic
format:
The total budgets for 2008-09, 2009-10, and if possible 2010-11
paid by your local authority to the school.
The breakdown of school budgets for 2008-09, 2009-10, and if
possible 2010-11 within the school, for example Staff costs
£400,000, Science £4000, Maths £3000, Gifted and Talented £1000 etc

Dear Mr Somerville,
At the moment our Finance Officer is absent from school with a serious eye problem so we are managing with support from the LA as well as our own clerical team. It has been possible to provide the overall budget figures for the last 3 years, however, we will struggle to provide the detailed breakdown that you indicate for the last 3 years because of the illness to the key person.
I have discussed this issue with the LA and they have said that because of our unusual situation they should be able to research the information from their records but that this would mean that they would have to charge you a fee for the clerical time that it would take them to gather the information. However, we very much hope that our Finance Officer will be back with us in September and we would then be in a much better position to provide you with the detailed information that you require.
I hope you understand the difficulties that we are facing at present.
The budget information is as follows:
2008-09: £5.502 million
2009-10: £6.050 million
2010-11: £6.364 million
