Budget - SAR contribution £3.1 m; details

VAL CURTIS made this Freedom of Information request to Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Sir or Madam,

At the Council budget meeting on 23rd Feb. 09, Cllr. Foulkes stated
that, 'A great deal of effort has gone into bringing the budget
down...etc., 'and the SAR had made a significant contribution of
£3.1m towards that'. (page 2)

Please advise of a detailed list of how the implementation of
recommendations from the Strategic Asset Review, raised this £3.1m.
We would like to know exactly where this sum came from. What
business transactions created the acquisition of this money?
Thank you.

Yours faithfully,

Ms. Val Curtis

Dear InfoMgr, FinDMT,
i AM SOMEWHAT CONFUSED BY THIS;...I THOUGHT THE SUGGESTION WAS
THAT THE MONEY HAD ALREADY BEEN RECEIVED...I ASKED
SPECIFICALLY......AND THE INFO. SEEMS TO SUGGEST THAT THIS AMOUNT
WOULD BE RAISED ONLY IF, THE SAR PROPOSALS ARE IMPLEMENTED?
cAN I REPHRASE THE QUESTION...PLEASE ADVISE, TO DATE, HOW MUCH
MONEY HAS BEEN RAISED FROM THE ASSETS LISTED, TO DATE, (NOT MAYBE,
IF RECOMMENDATIONS GO THROUGH...), TOGETHER WITH A LIST OF THOSE
DISPOSED ASSETS/BUILDINGS/LANDetc. and the specific amount raised
through each business transaction. Thank you

Dear Sir or Madam,

Regarding my request for details of specifics re. finamcial amounts
raised through 'Asset transfer', as alluded to by Cllr.
Foulkes....I see that Cllrs. Wilkins, George, Hale and Gilchrist
'declared an interest', on the grounds that they were on
'management committees', presumably associated with 'the business'.
Please provide a specific list of the 'management committees' these
cllrs. are involved with,..in this case, which prompted the need to
declare, starting with Cllr Wilkins. I will be happy to receive the
info re. each cllr individually. Please do not delay sending if
info. on one cllr. complete...in stages is acceptable...starting
with cllr. Wilkins. Thank you Ms. Corrin

Yours sincerely,

VAL CURTIS

Good Afternoon,
Thank you for your further enquiry below. To explain and clarify the situation for you:-

The Cabinet report on the SAR identifies the stated savings, if the proposals are fully implemented. To date, there has been no revenue savings identified because as I am sure you are aware, certain elements of the SAR have been suspended, pending the outcome of the library review.

As regards disposals, the Council sold 6 properties at Auction on 4th June. Details may be found on the following website www.pugh-company.co.uk
Click on the link, go to Auctions and then view lots 4th June.
I hope you find this information of use.
