Bucks county Council spending for swanrider transport

Dear Department for Communities and Local Government, BCC are
getting rid of a valuable resource in Swanrider transport because
they claim it has a current deficit of £801,000 - this is spending
over and above its allocated budget. This really is unbelievable,
Swanrider has only been operational for 4 years and it owns no
assets - so what has the money been wasted on? All vehicles used
are leased - the budget was in place for this, the budget was also
in place for all staff and fuel used (as this service was
originally controlled by individual centres, Swanrider was set up
to centralise transport, theoretically making it more
cost-effective).
The public are told Swanrider is haemmoraging cash - so, of course,
they agree with the decision to close but this is the first time
that staff have been told about any overspend - in fact, we have
always been under the impression that we have been running on or
just under budget. As these people are playing God with taxpayer's
money, I believe the taxpayer has the right to see where this cash
has been 'lost'
Yours faithfully,
John Grimley

Dear Department for Communities and Local Government,
I cannot help but wonder if my original request was not clear
enough.
Bucks county council's Swanrider transport service is on the cusp
of being closed down due to an accumulated deficit which now stands
at £824,000 - some £23k more than at the end of March.
Where, exactly has this deficit come from?
Do please spell out exactly how this money has been wasted - it
must show up somewhere in the accounts.
There are 79 members of staff and hundreds of users who are
desperate to find out.
Yours faithfully,
John Grimley
