BTPA Crime Mapping Statistics
George Gardner made this Freedom of Information request to British Transport Police Authority
British Transport Police Authority did not have the information requested.
From: George Gardner
6 May 2009
Dear Sir or Madam,
I notice from your BTPA website that you have a 'Crime Mapping'
facility, however it makes no mention of 'Sexual Offences' or other
similar crimes of indecency.
In light of this omission could you please provide me with the
following information:
i) The total number of sexual offences reported to the British
Transport Police and supplied to, but not published by, the BTPA in
2007 and 2008.
ii) Please breakdown those reported crimes into their respective
types; i.e. Rape, Indecent Assault, Indecent Exposure and Gross
Indecency.
Yours faithfully,
George Gardner
British Transport Police Authority

Dear Mr Gardner,
Thank you for your request for information made under the Freedom of
Information Act which we received on 7th May.
You requested the following information from us;
1. The total number of sexual offences reported to the British Transport
Police and supplied to, but not published by, the BTPA in 2007 and 2008.
The Authority does not hold this information but it is held by the British
Transport Police Force, we will pass your request to the British Transport
Police Force for a response.
We receive performance data from the Force in relation to current policing
plan priorities which includes local policing plan targets for ‘violent
and sexual offences’ as a combined category; we are not able to
disaggregate this data into individual crime codes at the Authority.
2. Please breakdown those reported crimes into their respective types;
i.e. Rape, Indecent Assault, Indecent exposure and gross indecency.
The Authority does not hold this information but it is held by the British
Transport Police Force, we will pass your request to the British Transport
Police Force for a response.
It may be useful to note that the BTP crime mapping facility accessed via
our website is actually a link to a section on the Force’s external
website and they are responsible for its current content; we will amend
our website to make this link clearer.
