British Rail Business Systems

William Olde made this Freedom of Information request to Department for Transport

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Department for Transport should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

From: William Olde

16 May 2011

Dear Department for Transport,

I write with reference to British Rail Business Systems (BRBS)

Under the freedom of information act, could you please provide a
list of (and purpose of each) information systems previously
managed by BRBS that passed to Sema? Please specify whether the
ownership of this data passed to Sema or remained owned by a public
body (please specify which one).

Please also provide all documentation held detailing a) the
functions, scope and purpose of BRBS before privatisation and b)
the assets transferred to Sema as part of this deal.

Yours faithfully,

William Olde

Dear Mr Olde

I refer to your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 for
information about the British Rail Business Systems.

I am writing to advise you that, given the historic nature of your
request, it may take some time for me to research whether or not the
information is held by this Department. However I have spoken with the
British Railways Board (Residuary) (BRBR) who believe that they hold the
information you require.

Would you be happy for me to transfer your request to them, or would you
prefer to contact them direct yourself? If you would prefer to contact
them yourself I can send you the relevant contact details.

Yours sincerely

Sue Waring

Dear Department for Transport,

Could you have a check for your response please? I believe you were
going to pass to British Rail, but I have had no further
communication. Please give this your top attention because, like
many of British Rail's trains, this request is now running overdue.

Yours faithfully,

William Olde

Dear Mr Olde

With regard to your FOI request F0007669.

On 20 May 2011 Sue Waring, the case handler for your original request, sent you an e-mail requesting permission to pass on your request to the relevant Public Authority - British Rail Board (Residuary) Ltd.

On Monday 23 May 2011 she received your response (dated 20 May 2011) allowing her to do that. She then forwarded your request to [email address] and closed the case on the DfT FOI system.

Mr Trewin is now dealing with your FOI request and you should address any queries to him.

I apologise for the fact that we did not make it clear that the case had been passed on to BRB (Residuary) Ltd. on 23 May 2011.

Kind regards

Hazel Smith

Dear Sue Waring,

I am sorry to trouble you, but further to my request 7669
(http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/br...),
your suggested approach of contacting Mr Trewin of British Rail is
not working. It appears that he is having severe technical
difficulties which are either preventing him for receiving, or
replying to, my request.

Do you think you could give him a poke, send over a technician or
otherwise aid him? If you could point out that he is in breach of
his statutory duty, that might chivy him along, too.

Could you acknowledge this message and confirm what action you have
taken?

Many thanks,

William Olde
