Mrs D Havercroft made this Freedom of Information request to South West Strategic Health Authority
The request was successful.
From: Mrs D Havercroft
9 February 2012
Dear South West Strategic Health Authority,
On 10th June 2009, NBT's former Head of Pathology Services, Dr Nick
Rooney, emailed colleagues about the histopathology misdiagnosis
concerns. He said “The discrepant cases have been forwarded to
Private Eye, I don’t know what has been forwarded but it seems to
be a list of discrepant diagnoses over the last few years. This is
bound to create some publicity and yet again drag Bristol Pathology
into the spotlight. Whether it sticks to Private Eye or gets picked
up by the local press we’ll have to wait and see. It has definitely
got the SHA involved, which s (sic) what we had tried to do in 2007
to no avail.”
I would like to see please, what the SHA received from NBT in 2007
when it “tried to get the SHA involved to no avail”, and what
responses the SHA issued to NBT in response to NBT’s approach.
Yours faithfully,
Mrs D Havercroft
on behalf of South West Whistleblowers Health Action Group
