This is a Freedom of Information Request.

Please provide me with copies of all briefings on any aspect of
Education or Schools prepared for Councillor Orhan by the Director
or Assistant Directors of Children Services or any other Senior
Manager since May 2010.

Please also refine my request to bring the response within the
Section 12 cost limit, by conducting electronic searches, should
you feel this request would exceed it. Should you have any
difficulty in understanding this request then please ensure that
you comply with your Section 16 responsibilities.

prepared for Councillor Orhan by the Director or Assistant Directors of
Children Services or any other Senior Manager since May 2010.

From our preliminary assessment, it is clear that we will not be able to
answer your request without further clarification.

The London Borough of Enfield requires further information in order to
identify and locate the information you have asked for, please specify the
exact information you require. Please note that under the Freedom of
Information act you have the right of access to information, not specific
documents or correspondence.

Once you have clarified your request, I will be able to begin to process

Thank you for your email of 20 June 2011 where you requested all advice
provided in briefings on any aspect of Education or Schools prepared for
Councillor Orhan by the Director or Assistant Directors of Children
Services or any other Senior Manager since May 2010.

From our preliminary assessment, it is clear that we will not be able to
answer your request . Under section 1(3) of the Freedom of Information Act
(FOIA), a public authority need not comply with a request unless any
further information reasonably required to locate the information is
supplied. If a request is too broad or general in nature, then public
authorities have a duty to provide advice and assistance to the applicant
in order to focus the request.

Section 12 of the Act makes provision for public authorities to refuse
requests for information where the cost of dealing with them would exceed
the appropriate limit, which for a local government authority is set at
£450. This represents the estimated cost of one person spending 18
hours in determining whether the department holds the information,
locating, retrieving and extracting the information.

We estimate that it will take us in excess of 18 hours to determine
appropriate material and locate, retrieve and extract the information in
reference to your request. Therefore, your request will not be processed
further.

If you narrow the scope of your request, we may be able to provide the
information. For instance, you may wish to refine your request by being
more specific about what information you particularly wish to obtain,
including any dates or period of time relevant to the information
required. Any reformulated request the department receives from you will
be treated as a fresh FOI request.

If you are dissatisfied with the handling of your request, you have the
right to ask for an internal review. Internal review requests should be
submitted within two months of the date of receipt of the response to your
original letter and should be addressed to:
