Dear Sir or Madam,
Please provide the following information under the Freedom of
Information Act 2000.
Following the announcement that Nick Griffin MEP, the Leader of the
British National Party had been invited to appear on the BBC
programme Question Time a number of Labour Party figures expressed
opposition.
A report in Wales on Sunday on September 8, 2009 stated that Peter
Hain (MP for Neath and Secretary of State for Wales) was
"seeking an urgent meeting with BBC executives in an attempt to
persuade the corporation to re-think, and said he rejected any
watering down of the “no platform” approach".
1. Has the BBC had any meetings with Peter Hain concerning the
appearance by Mr Griffin on Question Time?
2. Can you supply the dates, times, and venues of such a meeting or
meetings?
3. Can you supply a list of who attended any such meeting or
meetings?
4. Please supply any notes or minutes of the discussion which took
place.
Yours faithfully,
Adam Walker
