From: Mark Walker
7 November 2009
Dear Sirs
In an email dated 4 November 2009 to Andrew Brons, MEP, and Nick
Griffin MEP, Paul Heardman (Head of European Parliament Section,
United Kingdom Representation to the EU) wrote:-
"I am writing in reply to a telephone call to UKRep on 20 October
from your offices about briefing for MEPs. Your colleague said that
you were not receiving the same briefing as other UK MEPs.
I can confirm that the UK Government applies to MEPs the same
general principles of impartiality as it does for Westminster MPs.
UK officials do provide standard written briefings to all MEPs .
However, Ministers have decided that engagement beyond standard
briefings is not appropriate."
Please provide the following information under the Freedom of
Information Act 2000.
1. Which Ministers have decided "that engagement beyond standard
briefings is not appropriate"?
2. When was this decision made?
3. What was the decision making process? Please supply minutes of
any meetings held.
4. What were the grounds for the decision?
5. What services or "engagement" has been provided to all UK MEPs
other than those representing the British National Party since the
June 2009 elections?
Yours sincerely
Mark Walker
