David Hill made this Freedom of Information request to Totnes Town Council
Totnes Town Council did not have the information requested.
From: David Hill
26 February 2010
Dear Totnes Town Council,
I am writing with regard to the council's decision to bar the BNP
candidate in the forthcoming general election, Mr. Michael Turner,
from the council's 'Meet the Candidate' event.
I request the following information Under the Freedom of
Information Act:
1. The time and location of any meeting held to discuss this
decision.
2. The participants at any such meeting. Who was invited? What were
the criteria for invitation? Were representatives from all of the
political parties standing in Totnes invited to the meeting?
3. The minutes of any such meeting.
4. The name of the person or persons responsible for the following
communique:
“Whilst acknowledging our belief in the democratic process, the
overwhelming consideration has been the view that we should hold to
our passionate belief in the values of diversity, tolerance and
inclusion. This consideration precludes us from involving a party
that is in opposition to these values.”
Yours faithfully,
David Hill
