Dear Oxford City Council,
Today you have delivered to me a new blue wheelie bin along with a
new set of instructions. Can you please tell me why you have
changed your recycling scheme and how much you have spent on the
big blue wheelie bins you have delivered to my street today?
Yours faithfully

Dear Oxford City Council,
Thank you for your reply. Can you please clarify by telling me how
you expect to save £1 million by delivering large blue wheelie bins

Oxford City Council
28 October 2010
Good morning
Further to the below acknowledgement, I am able to respond as follows:
The expected savings are a result of the kerb side sort no longer being needed. By using one blue bin, rather than two separate recyclable bins, the items do not need to be sorted and collected by different vehicles. This has enabled the Council to reduce the number of vehicles used in the collection service and the number of staff required.
Savings also arise because there is a new contractor at the recycling outlet facility.
Yours sincerely
