Bloomsbury - Games Transport Vehicle Emission Standards
T Henderson made this Freedom of Information request to Camden Borough Council
The request was successful.
From: T Henderson
9 July 2011
Dear Camden Borough Council,
In the Planning Documents for the Bloomsbury Media Hub, the
Sustainability Statement noted that measures to minimise impact on
air quality from Olympic Games transport would include
- Procurement of low/zero emission vehicles across the Games
transport fleet;
- Specifying emission standards for buses and coaches;
(para 7.4.2 of
http://www.london2012.com/making-it-happ...
)
Under the Environmental Information Regulations please could you
supply a copy of any information held by the Council which
specifies what standards these vehicles are to operate to.
Yours faithfully,
T Henderson

Dear Camden Borough Council,
Please can I point out that your response to my request on Games
Transport Vehicle Emission Standards associated with the planning
approval for the Bloomsbury Olympic media hub is now overdue.
I would be grateful for a response.
Yours faithfully,

Dear T Henderson,
Thank you for your Freedom of Information request regarding the vehicle
emissions for Games Family vehicles at the proposed Bloomsbury Media Hub.
My apologies for the delay that there has been in responding to this
query.
The vehicle emission standards are specified in the Sustainability
Statement that was submitted as part of the planning application (and to
which you refer to below). The Statement (which is attached) states in
para 3.4.6 "The services to the Media Transport Hub will utilise vehicles
complying with the most recent exhaust standards, the Euro IV and Euro V
standards".
I have contacted LoCOG to follow this up and they have confirmed in an
email as follows "LOCOG's Games Family Bus and Coach contracts require
vehicles to be LEZ compliant, i.e. achieving Euro 4 or Euro 5 emission
standards. The low average age profile of the bus and coach fleet that
we have procured reflects this requirement."
I trust that this addresses your query and my apologies again for the
delay in responding. If you would like more detailed information on this
matter then I can suggest that you contact London 2012 directly (details
at [1]http://www.london2012.com/contact-us.php) who may be able to assist
you further.
Regards,
Simon Piper
