Blog of Cllr Mehboob Khan

Adam Brookes made this Freedom of Information request to Kirklees Borough Council

The request was successful.

From: Adam Brookes

15 June 2011

Dear Sir/Madam,

I would like to make a request under the terms of the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 regarding information that Kirklees Borough
Council may hold relating to the blog of Cllr Mehboob Khan at
http://www.mehboobkhan.net/.

I note that according to WHOIS information (see [1]), the domain is
registered to the Council.

I would therefore ask:

1) That the Council confirms whether or not it is the owner of the
domain mehboobkhan.net and if so, what are the costs associated
with registering the domain since December 2009?
2) Whether the Council funds the hosting of this blog and if so,
what are the associated costs since December 2009?

My preferred format to receive this information is by electronic
means.

I understand that under Section 16 of the Act public authorities
have a duty to provide advice and assistance to requesters and so
if it is necessary to clarify any details of my request or you find
this request to be unmanageable please contact me.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully,

Adam Brookes

Dear Mr Brookes

I am writing in response to your Freedom of Information request dated 15
June 2011.

The Council's response to your specific questions is set out below:

I would like to request information that Kirklees Borough Council may hold
relating to the blog of Cllr Mehboob Khan at
[1]http://www.mehboobkhan.net/.

I note that according to WHOIS information (see [1]), the domain is
registered to the Council.

I would therefore ask:

1. That the Council confirms whether or not it is the owner of the
domain mehboobkhan.net and if so, what are the costs associated with
registering the domain since December 2009?

The Council is the owner of the domain mehboobkhan.net and the costs
associated with registering the domain are £9.99 per year, starting in
December 2009 (£19.98 to date).

2. Whether the Council funds the hosting of this blog and if so,
what are the associated costs since December 2009?

The council pays for capacity online rather than by individual
domain/blog/site. The costs for hosting the Leader's blog are therefore
nil.

If you have any queries about this response, please email me. Please
remember to quote the reference number above in any future communications.

Yours sincerely
