Dear Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council,
In the proof of evidence from David Woolrich of Greater Manchester
Geological Unit to the Midland Road Planning Inspectorate Public
inquiry in 2006 - the Council's own contamination experts - in
paragraph 4.5.18 it states:-
"Waste management Paper 27 recommends that private housing with
gardens should not be constructed on landfill sites where the
methane levels are in excess of 1% v/v or the carbon dioxide levels
are in excess of 1.5% v/v. The general view is that gassing
landfill sites should not be developed for hard end uses until they
have stabilised ICRCL document 17/78 suggests that this period
could be for up to 50 years since gas can be produced for that
period."
As the Blackstone site is, according to documents sent to me by
Stockport Council, gassing over 78% methane and over 33% CO2,
please let me know how this matter has been addressed with regards
to this proposed development.
I remain in humble anticipation of your reply.
With very warmest best wishes
Sheila

Dear FOI Officer,
Sadly, given my experiences with Stockport Council, I would have
far more confidence if these assurances came from a boiled carrot.
We were all "reassured" that the toxic waste dump school site was
not contaminated - it was with lead, arsenic and brown asbestos.
The Council's own experts clearly stated in 2006 that such sites
were unsuitable for development.
I shall copy this reply to the Council's insurers.
Yours sincerely,
Sheila Oliver

Dear FOI Officer,
I wanted the reports by email, as is my legal right. I assume the
Environmental Health Department is not getting paper copies of such
complicated documents. If they are then the council officer in
charge should be sacked! Please send me the email copies I assume
they have received. This is not a new request.
Yours sincerely,
Sheila Oliver
