Dear Mr Merccer,

Freedom of Information Request Reference No: 2010020004937
I write in connection with your request for information which was received
by the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) on 22/02/2010. I note you seek
access to the following information:

* "The information I am requesting is all about the reports that the
black police officers association should not be allowed to continue,
the number of members and the rules of joining. "

Your request will now be considered in accordance with the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 (the Act). You will receive a response within
the statutory timescale of 20 working days as defined by the Act,
subject to the information not being exempt or containing a reference

by the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) on 22/02/2010. I note you seek
access to the following information:

Following receipt of your request searches were conducted within the MPS
to locate information relevant to your request.

EXTENT OF SEARCHES TO LOCATE INFORMATION
To locate the information relevant to your request searches were conducted
within Human Resources.

RESULT OF SEARCHES
The searches failed to locate any information relevant to your request,
therefore, the information you have requested is not held by the MPS.

The MPS does not maintain a corporate record of the number of staff who
have taken up membership with any of our recognised Staff Support
Associations. Each Staff Support Association has its own constitution
which sets out their rules in respect of membership. Each constitution
accords with the criteria set out in a corporate template which outlines
the minimum requirements for a constitution.

Membership of the MBPA is available to serving police officers, special
constables and police staff members directly employed by the MPS and to
retired members of staff. Associate membership is available to police
officers, special constables and support staff directly employed by a
constabulary or police authority within the UK and to support staff
employed by an outsourced contractor (or contractor) whose main role is
the support of the MPS.
