M Bimmler made this Freedom of Information request to Attorney General’s Office
The request was successful.
From: M Bimmler
7 April 2009
Dear Sir or Madam,
I refer to the Written Statement, made by Baroness Scotland of
Asthal in the House of Lords on March 26th, available at
http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa...
In the statement, the right honourable Baroness writes
"I have concluded that the appropriate course of action is to
invite the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police to commence an
investigation into the allegations that have been made in relation
to Binyam Mohamed."
Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I request a copy
of the letter or memorandum or other device, by which said
"invitation to commence an investigation" was communicated to the
Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, including enclosures,
appendices and schedules to the letter, if any.
I understand that the consideration of the release of the
enclosures etc. to the letter may take much longer than the
consideration whether the letter only can be released.
If this is the case, I would ask you to split my request into two
requests and assess them separately, viz.
- a request for only the letter (or other device of communication)
- a request for all the enclosures, appendices and schedules to the
letter
Yours faithfully,
Michael Bimmler

Dear Mr Strevens,
many thanks for your reply and my apologies for the too early
reminder, I was misled by the whatdotheyknow.com site that the
reply was overdue -- next time I shall rely on my own maths again.
For the record, I shall be sending you a separate email with
another FOI request shortly.
Yours sincerely,
Michael Bimmler
