3 November 2010

Dear spannermonkey

Thank you for your email below in relation to your recent Freedom of information request to the council. Your email does not state the precise nature of your complaint; upon reviewing the correspondence sent previously to our Customer Relations team, the issue would appear to be whether or not questions 6 - 9 of your request (our reference 5497) were answered.

I can confirm that the answers to questions 6 - 9 were provided in our original response. For your convenience, I have provided these again below with reference to the specific questions you raised.

Question 6. State how many motorcycle parking spaces/ how much capacity is under consideration for removal, (across the whole borough) to be replaced with bicycle facilities
Question 7. State how much bicycle parking capacity will be created in its place

Across the City of Westminster, with the introduction of the Barclays Cycle Hire stations, three motorcycle parking bays were altered. These bays were in St James’s Square, Beaumont Street and Warwick Square. Overall there has been a net increase of 37.3 metres of motorcycle parking bay.

Question 8. State how much money the council will lose from the reduction in motorcycle parking capacity

As there has been an overall net increase in motorcycle parking bays with this scheme there is no loss in revenue.

Question 9.State how much money the council will, or is expecting to make from the introduction of bicycle parking facilities.

The City Council has worked in partnership with the Mayor of London to implement the Barclays Cycle Hire scheme and will not be receiving income from the scheme.

I hope that this clarifies our response for you. Should you have any further queries, please contact the council at the address below.

Yours sincerely
