Dear Sir,
I refer to your request for information dated 23/01/2011.
You stated that there are two yachts moored in Berneray Harbour and that
they are being lived aboard as permanent bases. You wanted to know if
they are paying harbour dues; how much they are paying in harbour dues;
and how long they have been paying. You also wanted to know how much
has been collected in harbour dues from visiting craft and yachts for the
years ending 2008, 2009 and 2010.
 All visiting craft which enters a Comhairle  harbour are instructed
by signage to make their presence known to the Harbour master.  The
rates for visiting yachts are publicly available at
[1]http://www.cne-siar.gov.uk/harbourmaster....
I am told that the Harbourmaster has confirmed that only one of the yachts
you refer to is being lived on. That vessel has been in Berneray
harbour for 3 years and has being paying full harbour dues since that
time. £400.61 has been paid over this three year period. Last
season the following dues were paid for visiting yachts;
Castlebay                    Â
£131.61
Lochboisdale               Â
£18.31
Lochmaddy                 Â
£214.82
Rodel                          Â
£44.66
There are no figures registered for visiting craft using Berneray, though
I am told that does not mean that those who paid eg in Lochmaddy did not
use Berneray as well. This is because dues paid are paid in respect of
all Comhairle harbours. £470.44 was also paid in dues for private
leisure craft in Berneray.
I can not therefore provide you with the figures for Berneray for the
years sought - I can, if you wish, provide you with the total harbour dues
recorded for these periods.
Please let me know if you wish these figures or if I can be of further
assistance. Â
