From: James Boag

Dear Sir or Madam,
What would be the typical response to a citizen taking £12000 of
benefits fraudulently.
What actions would the department take if a claimant had been found
to have defrauded the social security by a sum greater than
£10,000.
Yours faithfully,
James Boag

Dear Mr Boag,
Unfortunately, the Social Security Advisory Committee (SSAC) is not in a position to respond to your FoI request, as the SSAC is an Independent Statutory Body, funded by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). The Committee provides advice to the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions and to the Department in Northern Ireland with responsibility for social security - the Department for Social Development - on their functions generally, and it plays a unique role in the secondary legislation process. It performs a mandatory scrutiny of most proposals for making the regulations that underpin the social welfare system that is the responsibility of the DWP.
You will find further information on the work of the SSAC on - www.ssac.org.uk
May I suggest that you forward your request to the DWP team that deals with Freedom of Information requests. You can contact them by post at -
