Warwickshire County Council

16 January 2009

Dear Mr Roseblade

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 - INFORMATION REQUEST

Your request for information regarding drainage in the Croft Pool and
Delamere Road area of Bedworth has now been considered. I am able to
provide you with some of the information you have requested and answer
your points in the order raised.

1 details of all the engineering works you have carried out during
the past three years regarding drainage ditches

The ditch starting roughly at the rear of 69 Delamere Road to the River
Sowe at the toe of the A444/Newtown Road slip Road onto the A444 was
cleared of overgrown vegetation and a minor amount of silt in May 2007.
At the same time Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council cleared fly tipped
refuse from the ditch and surrounding embankment. Also at the same time a
trial hole was excavated at a point in-line with the joint of the rear
gardens of 67 Delamere Road and 36 Croft Pool in the ditches eastern
embankment. This was excavated approximately one metre below the invert
level of the ditch. The hole was back filled with excavated material
roughly to the invert level of the ditch.

2 risk assessments you carried out in relationship to the potential
flooding of any of the rivers

I regret to advise you that the County Council does not hold the
information you have requested. However, the information you request may
be held by the Environment Agency.

Should you wish to contact them directly with your request, their contact
details are:

Alternatively, please let me know if you wish me to forward your request
to them.

3 details of the surveying levels taken of the ditch dug at the
bottom of the A444

The County Council did not carry out a 'level' survey when the ditch was
cleaned out and does not hold the information you have requested. I
understand that the Environment Agency have been carrying out a 'level'
survey in the area and they have been asked to include the ditch referred
to.

4 details of all the drainage systems in this area.

Newtown Rd to A444 slip road - surface water is collected in road gullies
these are connected to a carrier drain that runs in the verge at the top
of the embankment joining to the Public Storm Sewer in Newtown Road.

Ditch at toe of slip road embankment - as described in '1' above

Croft pool - we hold a copy of the developers drawing showing the areas
adopted as Public Highway dated 1978. This shows the surface water is
collected in road gullies which are connected to the Public Storm Sewer.

Delamere Road - The County Council does not hold the developers drawing
showing the areas adopted as Public Highway. Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough
Council were responsible for highway issues at the time (1966) and they
retained the files on the development. I can however confirm that road
gullies on Delamere Road are connected to the Public Storm Sewer.

Details of the Public Storm Sewers are held by Seven Trent Water (I
understand there is a charge for copies of plans), should you wish to
contact them directly with your request, their contact details are:
