Bed blocking - Wirral Borough Council

Pete Sheffield made this Freedom of Information request to Wirral Primary Care Trust (PCT)

Wirral Primary Care Trust (PCT) did not have the information requested.

From: Pete Sheffield

11 August 2011

Dear Wirral Primary Care Trust (PCT),

The Community Care (Delayed Discharges etc) Act 2003 came intoforce
in 2004.

The Delayed Discharges (England) Regulations 2003 and a number of
linked directions and regulations make provision for the details of
the delayed discharges scheme under the act, which deals with how
the NHS and local authorities must deal with patients whose
discharge from hospital is delayed. The act requires local
authorities to “reimburse” the relevant NHS body where a patient's
discharge has been delayed due to a failure of the local social
services authority.

Could you please disclose what is the longest period of time a
patient within the boundaries of Wirral Borough Council has 'bed
blocked' for each of the past 5 years, please express this in days.

Please disclose what the reason was for delayed discharge.

Yours faithfully,

Pete Sheffield
