BBC Producers Guidelines
A. Hunter made this Freedom of Information request to British Broadcasting Corporation
The request was successful.
From: A. Hunter
4 January 2009
Dear Sir or Madam,
BBC Producers'Guidelines (Document Reference RFI20080896)states on
Pg 81 that:
"The BBC has specialist programmes, programme
departments and the BBC Diversity Database on which programme
makers can draw to widen
the range of people represented."
a) Can you please provide the names of:
- The specialist programmes
- The programme departments
referred to in the above quoted paragraph?
b) Can you please detail the purpose and objectives of these
specialist programmes and departments in relation to programme
production? For example, are programme producers compelled to refer
to the programmes/departments; do these units pro-actively assess
each, or some, programmes before broadcast? If so, with what
intent?
c) Can you please explain the purpose of the BBC Diversity
Database?
e) Can you please let me know what information is held in the BBC
Diversity Database, e.g. does it detail the representation of
particular social or ethnic groups on a per programme basis?
Yours faithfully,
A. Hunter
