Basis of the £150 charge for Motorcycle Recovery
Matt Raven made this Freedom of Information request to North Wales Police
The request was partially successful.
From: Matt Raven
31 July 2009
Dear Sir or Madam,
I have recently had my motorcycle stolen. It was located by the
local police but was removed to a garage some distance away without
an opportunity for me to recover it myself. I later learned that
this would cost me £150. This seems patently unreasonable, however
I am happy to be convinced otherwise.
Under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act, please supply:
1) A copy of the relevant policy - I was advised by the Police
Officer in Vehicle Recoveries that this was available by FOI
2) The basis for setting the fee at £150 when the service is
clearly available at a much lower price.
3) The number of motorcycles recovered each year since the policy
came into effect
If for any reason you believe that finding this information would
cause the cost limit to be exceeded, please send as much of it as
you can within the limit.
Thank you.
Yours faithfully,
Matt Raven
